The City of Eagle Pass and Maverick County announced on December 6, 2022, the construction of a $7.25 million Wyndham Hotels & Resorts dual-branded La Quinta and Hawthorn Suites Hotel.  The new hotel will be located adjacent to the Eagle Pass Golf Course and the historic Fort Duncan Infantry Barracks. 

The investment by the Eagle Pass Hospitality Group, LLC will generate 31 new full-time jobs.  The four-story hotel will have a combined 90 hotel rooms including 60 rooms under the La Quinta guestrooms and 30 rooms under the extended-stay Hawthorn Suites brand. The hotel amenities include a conference room, swimming pool, fitness center, and business center.

The project investor, Eagle Pass Hospitality Group, LLC, is Andres Oyervides, his daughter Claudia Oyervides, and his family. The City of Eagle Pass and Maverick County utilized the Texas Local Government Code Chapter 380 and Chapter 381 Program which provides municipalities and counties the authority to create and provide economic development programs using loans and grants.  This tool allows the City of Eagle Pass and Maverick County to facilitate business activity by diversifying the tax base, attracting new quality jobs, retaining, and growing local industries.  Also, the hotel investment is a key component of the City of Eagle Pass Downtown Master Plan.
